Background:
Together with colleagues in 120 countries across the globe, Save the Children’s shared ambition is that by 2030 no child dies from preventable causes before their fifth birthday, all children learn from a quality basic education, and violence against children is no longer tolerated. In support of this shared ambition, Save the Children USA developed a 2022-2024 Strategic Plan to respond to and anticipate threats from COVID-19, conflict, and climate change, and protect the rights of children most impacted by inequality and discrimination. This plan has four prioritized program outcomes, one of which is ‘Healthy Start in Life’, which aims to ensure that by 2024, we contribute to 130 million+ children annually having equitable access to and using quality essential health and nutrition services. In support of this goal, the Department of Global health (DGH) established three key priority areas to focus our efforts in this changing global context: adolescent nutrition/malnutrition, inequity, and climate & health. Each of these areas has a core team to develop and implement strategic activities over the next two years.
Summary of Consultancy:
A key component of success for a ‘Healthy Start in Life’ will be to establish and implement a strong Knowledge Management (KM) Strategy and Implementation Plan. We define KM as a systematic cycle of capturing, synthesizing, storing, and disseminating knowledge and learning for future programmatic use and improved organizational performance. DGH seeks a KM consultant to develop this Strategy and Implementation Plan, which will be informed by activities and lessons learned during implementation of ‘Healthy Start in Life’ strategy activities to date and previous KM strategies. The consultant will work closely with staff from the core strategy teams, as well as the DGH knowledge management team to finalize the Healthy Start in Life Strategy and Implementation Plan. The consultant will also use their expertise to develop key KM deliverables.
